Hoi Hoi..

A week has passed, we don't have a new PM yet.... a tie, a draw, even Stevens. Australia WTF? It's pretty scary, Abbott could get in. We'll all be doomed.

Tathra was a delight, warm, sunny, peace full. Did a lot of fishing, but not a lot of catching. I guess that's why it's called fishing and not catching.
Apparently it was too cold for good fishing off the beach. But I did try....and try...and try. Never mind. Bollocks...

Staying in the Folks Caravan was fun, tight, snug and relaxing. Nature came to visit, we fed the Kookaburras, Magpies and Possums. Robins Nest, a cosy coastal retreat. Named after my wonderful Mom, her little hideaway. Thanks for sharing Mom, we enjoyed our time away. So, my blog reader if you are ever looking for a place to visit that is friendly, out of the way and well worth the effort, I say go to Tathra or somewhere nearby on the South, South Coast of NSW. It is well worth it. It's a region off Australia I'd love to spend the rest of my days, but maybe not in a caravan, maybe in a house, with a garden and fruit trees and a computer room and a home theatre and.......

Dobbie, the little Red Wonder Car.

Way back in January of 2010 I purchased the Nortons 2010 Internet Security from a trusted electrical superstore chain. This was done on a Sunday afternoon. Later that evening after loading the security onto my new computer I decided to enter the competition to win a car (1 car given away every week for the next 10 weeks) that Nortons was offering to all who purchased. I entered all my details. Let me remind you this was on a Sunday night of the first week that the competition was running. Entered and quickly forgotten Monday came around and off to work I go. January, summer and a day moving furniture, it's easy to work up a thirst and linking up with a work mate or two to knock down a pint is what usually happens. Young and Jacksons on Flinders in the CBD after two pints of Carlton is where I left my work buddies and started the drive home. Half way home my mobile rings, I pull over as every driver should when they want to answer their mobile while driving and this lovely female voice asks "Are you sitting down", "Yes" I say and then she says " Congratulations you have won a brand new 2010 Ford Fiesta. Fuck me dead!!!!! No way Are you joking ???

No, it was all true. Never, ever in my whole life did I ever imagine I would own a brand new car. Two weeks later I was off to Strapp Ford of Doncaster to pick up my new, free, all on road cost included brand new Red 2010 Ford Fiesta, new car smells and all. How chuffed was I... Real Chuffed.
We decided Dobbie was the name the little Red car should take. Dobbie has multiple little beeps, alarms and noises. You don't fasten your seat belt, Beep Beep Beep, you're nicked. You don't have your door shut properly, Beep Beep Beep, you're nicked. Petrol is low, Beep Beep Beep you're nicked. You can't get away with anything in this little red car, hence Dobbie, do anything wrong and he dobbs on you and you are nicked....

So here we are a wonderfull new car and all mine for free no expense. Oh how times have changed. Luck was far from my side, but no more. And see people do win these obscure competitions. I did, you could, so my friend enter away and don't give up, Shit happens and good shit too....

A Holiday, just a week, but a holiday none the less...

Yabble Dabble my good buddies, it's time to leave work behind and head of into the wild blue yonder for some good ol' R & R. This Rest and Relaxation is taking the form of an eight hour road trip from Melbourne Victoria in the little red wonder car 'Dobbie' (more on Dobbie later) to one of the best coastal locations in Australia, Tathra NSW.
We, the Lovely Linda and I are going to spend seven glorious days residing at my Folks caravan at this beautiful location. I plan to go fishing, read a book or two and watch a couple of DVD box sets that have been waiting to be viewed. We'll visit many a little village along this coastal wonderland, spending some of our hard earned money on home spun pottery, Op Shop bargains, bait and a fishing licence. So hopefully when I get back to my beloved computer in a week and a half I'll be able to show you all pictures of the big fish I caught whilste fishing, wonderful views of the adventures we had and anything else worth viewing.

So stay tuned and all will be revealed.

Broadband and Tech Heads

One more week and we'll have confirmation on who will be our next PM. Over 400,000 people will be first time voters, Young people, people who are probably pretty computer savvy. Labor, Julia is promising us a pretty good Broadband network, a network that is capable of delivering a download speed of 1 gigabyte per second. Did you get that 1 gigabyte per second. Most movies of just standard Hi Def quality are 700 megabytes to 1 gigabyte. One season of a regular 12 to 13 episode TV series is around 2 to 3 gigabytes. So you see, that's pretty swift, and I'd love to see that, and I'm hoping a large percentage of those 400,00 new voters feel the same way, Australia can be like heaps of other countries, zinging and pinging our way through the net.

Tony Abbott our Liberal candidate is not that keen to spark up the new Broadband network and when asked about it says " I'm not a Tech Head"
and palms it of to others. To him it's not important and the Libs are going to put it on the back burner. He may not be a Tech Head but I'm pretty sure he's a Dick Head.

Hey! If you are reading this you may well be someone who'd like to see Australia with this new Broadband Network. Go on, vote for it.

Oh look, there is that new movie I'd like to see, click, and now I'll watch it.

As simple as that

Australia Voting for the next PM

Tony Abbott reckons he is "Going to clamp down on people smuggling" I reckon Australia needs to clamp down on Budgie Smuggling.

Please, Please Australia DO NOT vote this man in.

How can anyone take this man seriously???? He comes across as sly and sneaky, plus he's a Liberal. Watch out for the return of Work Choices, although it'll be called something different, something like Fuck the worker and suck up tho the rich corporate hierarchy.

Julia Gillard, now she comes across as maybe the better choice, in my humble opinion.

A "Ranger" or Orangutan (reference to being a red head), a Woman, doesn't believe in God, wants to live in a De Facto relationship with her man at The Lodge. How Australian is all that??

She has my vote.

Zephyr, Go the Skinny Dog.

R.I.P.

Over the past few days I have been reminiscing about my old mate Zeph who I miss immensely. Zephyr was an adopted Greyhound obtained through GAP the Greyhound Adoption Programme way back in October 2005. It took him no time at all to weave his magic and become a very precious member of our little family.

My Lovely (Linda) and I had the pleasure of enjoying his company for 5 wonderful years, even though there was 2 walks a day, every day, usually 5.30am and 9.00pm and hundred of dollars worth of chicken chops (raw chicken wings and drumsticks).

Zeph was born 28/1/1998 and was christened Greenlea Prince. He was raised and trained to run and win. Sixty seven starts, Fifteen first place, Fourteen seconds and Eight thirds with a total prize pool of $39,115. As with most Greyhound raised for racing, once their time has come and no more races took place either due to injury or old age they are disregarded and given up for the next pup with potential. Zeph or rather Prince as he was known, then moved onto the the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital in July of 2003 and became their live in blood donor where he spent the next two years saving the lives of many other dogs with his precious blood. Eventually he became a retired "Blood Donor Dog" and made his way to GAP, then to a foster home in August of 2005. A wonderful older lady by the name of Trish looked after him for a month or two until we put our hands up and said "yes" in October 2005.

Now that he was the Lovely's and mine, we decided Prince was not the name he was to keep and we re-christened him Zephyr, (a gentle, mild breeze as the dictionary defines)we thought it more of a rushing wind and I also thought that any name starting with a Z is way cool, and I've always liked the name in relation to Zephyr Cars. He gave us much joy with his peaceful and lazy personality, he also caused grief and financial loss with his natural ways. I once let him off the leash whilst on a walk and he spotted a little dog, a Shiatsu or something, in the far distance and raced as he was trained to until he caught it and pretty much shredded it. Cost me about $1600 and nearly a conviction not to mention the horror and grief to a little old English lady who's little Shiatsu was destroyed. Gotta thank Broadmeadows legal aid for their help on that one. He was never let off the leash again in public.
He was spoilt and loved, hugged and patted, walked and fed. He had a bed in the lounge room, bedroom, laundry, shed and in the middle of the backyard, he chose which ever bed he wanted depending on his mood and wondered freely between them.

Eventually in February of 2010 old age mingled with bone cancer in the hip got the better of him. We tried battling all this with medication and loads of love but in the end that slow walk to the vet and the big needle was the best thing to do. As he got the shot of relaxant that would gently put him to sleep forever, we hugged him holding back tears and on the radio Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" was playing. I'll never hear that song again without thinking of Zeph. We paid the big bucks and had him cremated. His ashes were returned to us in a wonderfully ornate wooden box which is now proudly displayed on our mantle and will soon be part of a shrine which is in the making. Zephyr, Skinny Pup you will always be in our hearts.

Dark Ale, bottled and sittin' pretty.

Just bottled up the Coopers Dark Ale Home Brew. 40 Stubbies and 12 long necks. Now it's a three week wait for it to do it's final thing, all looking good. It was meant to be bottled on Sunday, but due to Jemenna pulling up stakes at the Blackburn Road address and headin' to a bigger and better(?) premises, 250 office desks along with mobile pedestals, chairs petitioning and various other bits and pieces had to be out by Sunday arvo. Eight truck loads all up between Friday and Sunday, and due to the Engineering Department of Monash University holding an open day last Sunday, 53 x 1800mm sq petitions, along with registration counters, bar tables and stools in on Friday evening and out on Sunday arvo, and also due to the All Blacks playing the Aussie team at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night. 65 Bar stools and 25 Bar Tables, Ottomans, Partitions and other bits in on Saturday Morning to one of the VIP rooms and out at Midnight. This boy hardly had time to scratch himself, let alone bottle up the important Home Brew, but he did rack up a shitload of overtime. Then all Monday was spent dragging all kinds of furniture around the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens for the Melbourne Art Fair. By the time I got home on Monday evening I was pretty shagged and had no desire to wash multiple beer bottles. The Home Brew brewed for two extra days. Mmmmm I wonder if it will be a little more potent than usual. Three Weeks will tell.
